Senseca vane anemometer for handheld wind measurement

Related instruments Airspeed & wind

Shown below is a Senseca HD2303.0 handheld anemometer, connected with an AP472S2 vane probe:

HD2303.0 is a handheld anemometer designed for direct on-screen wind speed readings. Other models with built-in data logging capabilities are also available.

AP472S2 is a 60 mm diameter vane anemometer probe, ideal for quick and reliable outdoor wind measurements.

The probes are interchangeable, and alternative options—such as hot wire anemometers—are available to suit different applications.

Below is an all-in-one weather station designed for measuring wind (speed and direction), rain, solar radiation, temperature, and humidity:

The instruments were installed on the rooftop deck of a historical building. A 3-meter-tall pole was used for mounting the anemometer.

The weather station operates independently, powered by a 30 W solar panel. Data is automatically uploaded to a cloud server for remote access.

OTM provides installation and maintenance services for this project.

HD51.3DP147 all-in-one anemometer for coastal environment weather monitoring

Related instruments Weather station, Airspeed & wind

Shown below is an HD51.3DP147 all-in-one anemometer for coastal environment applications. It measures wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and solar irradiance with a single instrument. Multiple output types are supported, and the MODBUS-RTU output is used by most users.

The HD51.3D… series is very similar to the HD52.3D… series. The main advantage is that HD51.3D is more rugged and it satisfies the the requirements of the MIL-STD-810G Method 509.6 and EN ISO 9227:2017 (salt fog anti-corrosion test). For Singapore customers, we recommend this model for applications in coastal environments.

Instrument for outdoor micro-environment measurement

Related instruments Temperature & humidity, Air speed & wind, Thermal comfort

Shown below is a system integrated by OTM for outdoor micro-environment measurement:

The system consists of the following components:

  • HD52.3DP17: ultrasonic anemometer for wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, and solar irradiance measurement
  • TP876.1.I: 50 mm globe thermometer
  • HD33MT.4: data logger supporting 4G communication

At the customer’s request, we also customized a stand for the system. A similar system was customized by OTM before. The new system has castor wheels and it is easy to move the system around for measurement.

The power consumption of the system is very low. With the internal 3.4 Ah battery, the system can run for around 5 days without charging. The data can be directly downloaded via a USB cable. With a 4G SIM card, it is possible to connect the data logger to the cloud.

Shown below is a wind speed and wind direction measurement system, with the following components:

  • HD53LS.S 2-axis ultrasonic anemometer with MODBUS-RTU output
  • HD35EDW-MB wireless data logger with MODBUS-RTU input

For this system, OTM also supplied a 2-meter-long stainless steel pole for mounting and wired/configured all instruments before delivery. The last step mechanical mounting was done by the end user. A USB dongle type base unit (HD35APD) was also included for manual downloading of monitoring data in a scheduled interval.

The instrument measures 3 velocity components (u, v, w velocity components) and 3 additional quantities (temperature, humidity, and barometric pressure), and calculates a number of derived quantities (wind speeds and directions, sonic temperature, and wind gust), as shown in the screen capture below:

In this application, the data collected by HD2003 is logged by Delta OHM HD35EDW-MB wireless data logger with MODBUS-RTU input.
