Below is a weather station integrated by OTM for outdoor thermal comfort monitoring:

The station measures the following five environmental parameters:

  • Wind speed and direction
  • Air temperature and humidity
  • Globe temperature

These measurements are used for outdoor thermal comfort analysis, such as calculating the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). The data is automatically logged by the instruments and uploaded to a cloud server.

The following key instruments are used:

We also provided installation and maintenance services for this project.

Four results are measured:

  • Air temperature
  • Relative humidity
  • Air velocity
  • Globe temperature

A Python code has been developed to calculate and plot the thermal comfort results. Shown below is a plot based on the results captured above.

Shown below is an HD51.3DP147 all-in-one anemometer for coastal environment applications. It measures wind speed, wind direction, temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and solar irradiance with a single instrument. Multiple output types are supported, and the MODBUS-RTU output is used by most users.

The HD51.3D… series is very similar to the HD52.3D… series. The main advantage is that HD51.3D is more rugged and it satisfies the the requirements of the MIL-STD-810G Method 509.6 and EN ISO 9227:2017 (salt fog anti-corrosion test). For Singapore customers, we recommend this model for applications in coastal environments.

A LAN-based data logging system was integrated by OTM for air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, and air speed monitoring. The following instruments were used:

  • HD50GH: web data logger supporting 4 analog inputs and ethernet connectivity
  • HD2001.1: temperature, humidity and pressure transmitter with 4-20 mA output
  • HD403TS2: air speed probe with 4-20 mA output

Can the testing fee be reduced by skipping some glass optical property results?

The following table of results is presented in our glass optical & thermal property test report:

We sometimes receive questions about whether the testing fee can be reduced by excluding some optical property results.

Please refer to this page for information on the testing procedures for glass optical and thermal properties. The optical properties serve as intermediate results in determining thermal properties. The solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC) and shading coefficient (SC) are derived from 5 sets of raw data on spectral transmittance/reflectance. All other results are calculated from this same data set without requiring additional testing.

Therefore, even if some optical properties are omitted, the testing procedures remain unchanged, and the testing fee will not be reduced.
